Precautions for grinding and use of ultra-thin grinding wheel

 

Ultra-thin cutting grinding wheel is mainly used for fine and close groove and cutting, generally deep slow feed grinding method is adopted. It has the characteristics of large grinding depth, small feed speed, large contact area between grinding wheel and workpiece, narrow slit, high metal cutting rate, high grinding accuracy, good surface quality and high material utilization rate. The general rules are as follows:

 

1). The integral cutting grinding wheel has thin thickness (mostly less than 0.5mm), small outer diameter (20-100mm), fine particle size, high size and shape and position accuracy, light weight, and is generally used under high speed conditions. The general speed is 5000-40000 RPM.


2). The grinding wheels of basic shape are mostly thick (0.5-2mm), with large diameter (100-200mm), coarse particle size and low accuracy, which are generally used under conditions of low speed and large cutting depth. The general speed is 3000-10000 RPM.


3). Ultra-thin cutting grinding wheel mostly uses fine grain size, and generally, the thinner its thickness is, the abrasive grain size will become fine accordingly, and the processed surface quality is good. However, the finer the abrasive particle size, the corresponding cutting edge decreases, and the feed speed should be reduced accordingly to adapt to the machinability of abrasive particle size.


4). The cutting depth of ultra-thin cutting grinding wheel is generally determined by the user according to the cutting parts. Its cutting mostly adopts slow feed grinding process, and the depth is cut to one time. In this way, due to the thin cutting grinding wheel and poor cutting conditions (mostly three-side contact workpiece), the heat dissipation is difficult, so it is necessary to increase the cooling of the cutting area (flow, pressure).


5). It is recommended to increase the cutting speed or reduce the feed when the cutting grinding wheel appears immovable or the workpiece cracks when it is just put on the machine at the user's place; When the grinding wheel is not cut or broken after using for a period of time, it is recommended to cut the surface of the grinding wheel with an appropriate size of oilstone to adjust its sharpness.


6). The machining surface quality and cutting performance of the workpiece are mainly related to the abrasive particle size of ultra-thin cutting wheel. The finer the particle size, the better the surface finish. At the same time with the workpiece material, hardness, cutting dosage, machine conditions, processing requirements and other factors are also related.


7) The ultra-thin cutting grinding wheel has generally been shaped and edged before leaving the factory, and users can use it directly. If the user needs further shaping, it is recommended to use green silicon carbide or white corundum oilstone, and the granularity of the grinding wheel is 1-2 no. coarse than that of the grinding wheel. If the user needs to further edge or edge after a period of use, it is recommended to use green silicon carbide or white corundum oilstone, the particle size of the grinding wheel is 1-2 or the same size.

 

8) The cutting dosage is generally related to the processed materials, hardness, accuracy, processing requirements, etc. It is recommended that the user should use it under the original conditions for the first time and not easily change the cutting dosage.


9) User conditions are also the main factors affecting the cutting performance, especially the spindle axial series movement, radial runout of the machine tool, flange parallelism, dynamic balance accuracy and so on all directly affect the cutting precision of the cutting wheel.


Precautions for use:

1. Before cutting the grinding wheel, please carefully check whether the grinding wheel has deformation, crack, crack, etc.

2. When the flange is too small or the precision is poor, it is easy to damage the grinding wheel. Please improve it and use it.

3. When the rotation direction of the grinding wheel is marked, it should be consistent with the rotation direction of the machine tool. On the contrary, cutting is not sharp, it is difficult to play the performance of cutting grinding wheel.

4. If the cutting grinding wheel does not match the workpiece to be cut, abnormal wear, poor sharpness and abnormal heating are easy to occur.

5. If any abnormality is found during cutting, stop the machine immediately.

6. When the cutting is not sharp, trim and cut the grinding wheel. If the grinding wheel continues to be used, it will be overheated and overburdened and damaged.

7. When the grinding wheel is rotating, it is forbidden to cut by hand, let alone touch the grinding wheel with hands and body.

8. It is strictly forbidden to use the grinding wheel for other operations than grooving or cutting to avoid abnormal occurrence due to uneven force.
